Artist Héctor “Reez” Ruiz, part of the Mexico City’s Mercadorama Collective, joined #ElMeroMuro with a bold vision, in conjunction with Casa Mexico during SXSW. Reez’s We Are All Mexico mural embraces Austinites with the vibrant mountains, endless skies, and bountiful flora of a neighboring land. With the use of bright colors and a message of inclusivity, he invites passersby to reflect on the common history that makes up this land and connect its people.
About the Artist
Born in Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua, much of Reez’s work touches on themes of death, beauty, hope and resilience. Now based in Mexico City, Reez works as a freelance graphic designer, artist, and musician in the band Hello Seahorse.
