5th St. Surveys

All 46 individuals, or 100% of respondents, reported supporting the further development of the 5th Street Mexican American Heritage Corridor. The majority (42 or 91.3%) of Respondents reported that they would like to participate further in the development of The district. A much smaller portion (4 or 8.7%) of Respondents reported that they may be interested in participating further in the development of the district.

All 32 businesses, or 100% of respondents, said that they would support the further development of the 5th Street Mexican American Heritage Corridor, although they reported varying levels of commitment to participate in the further development of the district. Of the 32 respondents, 11 were business stakeholders located on the portion of the corridor along 5th Street and east of IH-35. The remaining 21 business stakeholder respondents are businesses located on the western portion of the corridor.

These outreach initiative highlight the strong enthusiasm and commitment within the community to preserve and celebrate the cultural and historical significance of the 5th Street Mexican American Heritage Corridor. By addressing the unique needs and perspectives of each stakeholder group, the engagement process not only informed the development of the corridor but also strengthened the sense of shared ownership and pride among participants. These results lay the groundwork for a collaborative, community-driven approach as we move toward establishing the corridor asa state-designated Cultural Historical District.
