About the Artist

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Luis Angulo and his family emigrated to the US thirteen years ago. Not knowing a word in english, it was hard adjusting in the beginning. Fast forward twenty years later Luis, an Austin Texas resident, now explores his identity as a Venezuelan living in the US through his artwork. Politics, social issues and pop culture are all present throughout his work. Luis Angulo specializes in large scale public artworks, which involve sculpture, murals and art installations. His work often involves incorporating various communities in his work to create a deep connection to the history, culture and people. Luis enjoys creating art that is visually appealing and artwork that engages the viewer through message, meaning and symbolism.

Artists have the opportunity to sell their art on the Changarrito cart in front of the Museum (or an offsite location, as representative for the Museum during various Austin festivals). Changarreando expands the reach of the artist by presenting their gallery online, while allowing the option to sell merch over Instagram and receive 100% of the sale.

Luis Angulo featured her artwork on the Changarrito cart outside the Museum’s entrance on April 27th and May 5th, 2020.
