Mexic-Arte Museum to Host Its First In-Person Performance of the Year
Reserve your spot and donate online!
Join the Mexic-Arte Museum on Friday, June 25th from 6pm – 8pm for performances by Tereso Perfecto Contreras, and singer/songwriter Amalia Mondragón celebrating both Pride Month and the Museum’s current in-person exhibition, Mexico, the Border and Beyond: Selections from the Juan Antonio Sandoval Jr. Collection. Amalia Mondragón and Tereso Perfecto Contreras are currently working on a concept album entitled “Transfronterizx” which seeks to amplify the unique life of the Transfronterizx — people who transit and navigate the U.S.-Mexico border as a way of life — through the lens of two individual, two-spirited people: Tereso Perfecto Contreras and Amalia Mondragón. Part of the album has been funded in part by NALAC and the Ford Foundation through the Border Narrative Change grant.
The show will consist of performances by Transfronterizx artists such as, Dj Birth DFX, live painting by Victor “Mask” Casas, and performances by Amalia Mondragón and Tereso Perfecto Contreras.
The event will also be live streamed via the Museum’s Instagram account @mexic_arte for those who aren’t able to make it in-person!
Suggested donation of $5 – $10 at the door. Donations will go to performers.
Parking: The Frost Bank Tower provides $10 parking for visitors after 5:00pm. For more information on parking, please visit the Museum’s Visit webpage.
