Currently based in Austin, Texas, Savannah Diaz is a visual artist whose works center on themes of her childhood and maternal energies. Born and raised in a largely Latinx community in Miami, Florida, her work is informed by and focused on revisiting memories of growing up in a Cuban-American household. Harry Chávez, born in Lima, graduated from the Catholic University of Pontificia in Perú. He studied Korean art and culture at Dankook University in South Korea. For the launch of the 2018 season, Mexic-Arte Museum featured six Changarrito residencies during the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. On Sunday, March 18, Harry was on hand.

Celeste Sarabia is a Latina artist who was born in El Paso, Texas. Her portraits explore the idea of capturing personality through painting. She paints her subject’s auras in order to be able to express their unique personalities. For the launch of the 2018 season, Mexic-Arte Museum featured six Changarrito residencies during the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. On Wednesday, March 14, Celeste Sarabia was on hand.

José Villalobos grew up on the US/Mexico border in El Paso, TX. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He was awarded the Artist Lab Fellowship Grant for his work De La Misma Piel at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. José Villalobos featured his artwork on the Changarrito cart outside the Museum’s entrance on August 14 – 15 & 21 – 22, 2018.

Francisco Godoy (b. 1979) is an artist and pediatrician, originally from Guatemala. His current body of work is inspired by his medical knowledge, as he explores the shape of the human heart. Francisco Godoy featured his artwork on the Changarrito cart outside the Museum’s entrance on May 13th, 14th, 20th, and 21st, 2017.

Joseph Silvas (b. 1992 in El Paso, TX) was born into a military family and lived in Oklahoma, Germany, Killeen, and Fort Hood, all before settling down in his parents’ hometown of San Antonio. Joseph Silvas featured his artwork on the Changarrito cart outside the Museum’s entrance on March 16th, 18th, and 19th, 2017.

Samuel Velasquez is a San Antonio native surrealist that obtained his BFA at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is currently a painting instructor at Southwest School of Art in San Antonio, Texas. Raquel Zawrotny featured her artwork on the Changarrito cart outside the Museum’s entrance on April 15-17 & 23-24, 2016.

Josué Ramírez (Rawmirez) is a border artist living and practicing in the Rio Grande Valley. Josué participated in Changarrito February 20th and 21st as well as February 27th and 28th. Originally from Ciudad Mante Tamaulipas, Mexico, Rawmirez migrated to the US alongside his family as a child. Josué Ramírez featured his artwork on the Changarrito cart outside the Museum’s entrance on July 11-12 & 18-19, 2016.

Faustinus Deraet (b. Antwerp, Belgium) is an Austin based photographer, who grew up in Mexico City. He obtained a Bachelor’s in Computer Systems from the Universidad Iberoamericana; and, after working for seven years at IBM, he decided to pursue his passion for photography. Faustinus Deraet featured his artwork on the Changarrito cart outside the Museum’s entrance on September 19-20 & 26-27, 2015.
