We are thrilled to announce the arrival of the 40th Annual Día de los Muertos exhibition at the Mexic-Arte Museum, a cherished tradition since 1984. This year's exhibition, 40 years of Día de los Muertos, holds a special place in our hearts as we reflect upon four decades of honoring our dearly departed.
Growing up as a Mexican, queer, girl in a multigenerational household, I've always had an insatiable need to learn more about the ways I can best care for the communities I belong to. Mauro Murillo was born in Coahuila, Mexico and moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1995. During high school, he enjoyed the SAY Sí art program where he explored creating art in different mediums including graphite, charcoal, aluminum, paper mâché, papel picado, and others. Mauro Murillo featured their artwork on the Changarrito cart outside the Museum’s entrance on November 11-12 and November 18-19, 2023.
Lisa is a visual artist and designer from Houston, Texas. In 2019, she completed her master’s in design studies from Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión. Lisa Saldivar featured their artwork on the Changarrito cart outside the Museum’s entrance on December 9th, 10th, 16th, and 17th, 2023.
