Education

Mexic-Arte Museum’s Education Department enriches the community’s knowledge of contemporary and traditional Mexican, Latino, and Latin American art and culture. Education staff members coordinate educational programs and create didactic material to support and enhance each exhibition. Through these endeavors, the department helps visitors understand and engage with the works of art.The Museum’s Art Outreach program encourages youth to explore visual art as a means of communication and self-discovery, while simultaneously learning about one’s own culture and that of others. Field trips to the Museum allow students to experience the artwork first-hand and connect what they have learned in the classroom to the exhibit. As part of the outreach program, the Education Department consistently produces high-quality educational materials and curriculum that meet the State of Texas standards known as the TEKS – Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
