Family Day

Aug. 30, 2020

Aug. 30, 2020 @ 2:00 pm 3:30 pm

Before planning your visit to the museum, please make sure you visit the Museum Health Protocols. Thank you.

Our next Family Day Workshop at Mexic-Arte Museum will be a streaming event that takes place on Sunday, August 30th from 2pm – 3:30pm and will highlight our current exhibit, the Bruno Andrade Retrospective: A Native of South Texas. As an abstract artist, Bruno Andrade freely changed colors found in nature to colors from his imagination and created his own unique vision of the South Texas landscape.

Join MAM’s education staff as we lead our online art activity “Bruno & Form: Nature Monoprint” and create your own Bruno Andrade inspired artwork with your family! Coordinate a time to see Bruno Andrade’s work in person, every Sunday we have free admission as part of our H-E-B funded Domingos Gratis en Familia grant.

Mexic-Arte Education events will be streaming in August to help protect the health, and safety of all employees, volunteers and the public.

Family Day art materials you’ll need this Sunday:

  • Colored construction paper in six complementary colors (red + green, yellow + purple, blue + orange)
  • Acrylic / tempera paint or block printing ink in the SAME complementary (6) colors
  • Paint brush and water cup OR brayers for ink
  • Glue stick or tape
  • Items from nature

*Take a walk with someone you trust or a guardian, if you can. Collect different looking leaves or rocks of various sizes. Try not to pick things that are still growing, but rather find some around you on a walk. Put them in a bag, and clean them when you get home.*
