Amplify Austin Day

Mexic-Arte Museum is the heart of Latinx culture in downtown Austin. For nearly 40 years, this museum has provided outstanding cultural programming, unique educational opportunities, and innovative exhibitions. Nearly 100,000 people walk through the doors of Mexic-Arte each year, leaving with a deeper understanding of the rich contribution Latinx individuals have made to Texas, and the United States as a whole.

Internally, the Museum has served as a pipeline for the development of emerging Latinx artists and emerging arts administrators as well as a spotlight for established Latinx artists. Our Emerging Latinx Artists exhibition, which is entering its 27th year, we give artists and curators the opportunity to display in a world-renowned museum.

With your donation, you support our award-winning educational programs, including our 3 proposed ScreenIt! programs – Nuestro Mundo, Nuestro Estilo, and Nuestro Tecnología. Every dollar goes towards supplies that our students will use this summer to create art that enhances their pride in themselves and their communities.

Nuestro Mundo – students will learn silkscreen printing and use it to create posters about issues that matter to them

Nuestro Estilo – students will learn about indigenous fashion, sustainability, and the lino-cutting pattern creating process

Nuestro Tecnología – students will learn how to curate an exhibition that represents them, using important objects from their lives
