Active-Duty Military

The Mexic-Arte Museum, a collaborator in the Blue Star Museums program, offers free general admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and up to five family members—including U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Commissioned Corps—from Armed Services Day through Labor Day. (For all free and discounted military tickets, present ID in person at admissions desk)

Accessibility Information

The Mexic-Arte Museum is located in the heart of downtown Austin on the corner of East 5th Street and Congress Avenue, easily seen and reachable by the public. It is handicap accessible featuring: official handicap street parking located on both the Congress and 5th Street sides of the Museum. Entrance and interior mobility include the minimum 32″ wide doorway clearance space. Accessible paths around the gallery areas have a minimum 36″ width, and a unisex, handicap accessible restroom with grab bars available. There is affordable paid parking on the street, and near by pay parking lots at ground level. Additionally, Frost Bank Tower next door
to the Mexic-Arte Museum has public parking available to accommodate downtown visitors for a fee, and features an elevator, handicap spots, ramps, and large doorways for easy mobility to and from the Museum.


Metered street parking is available along 5th St., Congress Ave., and the surrounding blocks.

Sundays are free of charge

Fees are $2.40 per hour.
For additional parking, garages and surface lots are also available throughout the downtown Austin area.

The Frost Bank Tower also provides $10 parking for visitors after 5:00pm and on weekends:

Guided tours of Mexic–Arte Museum exhibitions provide students and adults with a unique cultural experience. Tours are an engaging way to expose all age groups to current exhibitions and a fun opportunity to learn about traditional and contemporary Mexican, Latinx, and Chicanx art from MAM’s knowledgeable staff.Tours are customized to focus on current exhibitions and can be tailored to focus on K-12 education, the community, or specific collections; tours in English and Spanish are available for museum guests. Programmatic Accessibility

All current programs and education lessons are readily available online in a digital format. The Museum adheres to strict Covid-19 health protocols in person. Digital programs are accessible through mobile and additional
internet connected devices. Because of their internet based accessibility, any screen reader or accessibility browser extension already in use by a visually impaired person would be able to aid in bridging that gap. Additional accommodations are available upon request, including bilingual tours and associates.
