Installation for Upcoming Exhibition – Museum Galleries Closed

The Mexic-Arte Museum galleries will be closed from November 23rd – December 18th due to the install of the upcoming exhibition, Mexico, the Border and Beyond: Selections from the Juan Antonio Sandoval Jr. Collection. The Museum Store remains open to the public throughout this time. Please visit our Visit page for Museum Store hours. The upcoming exhibition will open to the public on Saturday, December 19th at 10am and will continue to remain open to the public until Sunday, May 30th. Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead Symposium: Its History and Celebration from Ancient to Contemporary Times

The Mexic-Arte Museum would like to invite you to a three part symposium and Q&A as part of The 37th Annual Day of the Dead Exhibition with speakers Dr. Carey Rote, Elliot Lopez-Finn, Mary J. Andrade, Dr. Cary Cordova, Dr. Rachel González-Martin, Dr. Charlene Villasenor Black, with Mexic-Arte Museum Education Associate, Jose Martinez, Executive Director, Sylvia Orozco and Curator & Director of Programs, Dr. George Vargas as hosts. The discussion will shed light on the traditional holiday, it’s history and celebration, and the role it plays in modern times in the US and beyond. The 37th Annual Day of the Dead Exhibition

In observance of the Mexican holiday the Day of the Dead or Día de los Muertos, Mexic-Arte Museum presents ​The 37th Annual Day of the Dead Exhibition.​ Since 1984 when the Museum presented its first Day of the Dead exhibition, ​La Muerte Vive (Death Lives)​, this exhibition pays tribute to the tradition that celebrates the return of the dead by their families and friends on October 31 to November 2.
