About the Artist
Niz is a self-taught street artist originally from Lima, Peru. She specializes in large scale stencil murals and custom portraiture. Her start in the art world is rooted in Latin American culture, skateboarding, hip hop, and urban life. Proclaimed “The Queen of Stencil Art” by the Austin American Statesman, she’s been painting murals in Austin for 12 years. Her style is instantly recognizable and many of murals have become land marks.
Her pieces are inspired by mythology, spirituality, elevated consciousness, music, and activism. Her work attempts to blend the organic free flow found in nature with the mystical, magical human experience. Her niche is in the goddess and archetype portraiture that aims to empower and elevate consciousness. She also likes to bring in important social and psychological issues to light
