SUMMARY:The United States and Mexico: A Powerful Past\, A Shared Future
DESCRIPTION:From the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City\n\n\n\n“The foundation of Art in Embassies (AIE)\, a U.S. Department of State program\, began with an International Council established by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in 1953 to exhibit American works of art in U.S. embassies. Building on these efforts and recognizing the importance of art in international cultural outreach\, an AIE office was created by the John F. Kennedy administration in 1963. Since then\, AIE has grown and continues its mission to promote cultural diplomacy through art by way of artist exchanges and programs exhibiting a diverse group of American artists as well as international artists and artists from the host countries.” \n\n\n\n\nLearn MoreClick this box to visit the official Art in Embassies 2022 page and see the exhibit including a 3D digital interactive tour of A Powerful Past\, A Shared Future. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom the Mexic-Arte Permanent Collection\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jesus “Cimi” Alvarado\nEsto es un Río\, 2009\nSerigraph\n22″ x 30″ \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Francisco Mora\nLos Niños Héroes\, 1960\nLinocut\n11.5″ x 8″ \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Leopoldo Mendez\nMéxico en la Guerra: Los Braceros se van a Estados Unidos\, 1960\nLinocut\n8.5″ x 11.5″ \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nHighlights\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sylvia Orozco\, Mexic-Arte Museum Director; Arely Morales\, Artist; Maria Rosario Jackson\, Chair of the National Endowment for the Arts; Hope Hernandez Salazar; Mireya Salazar and Elaine Salazar\, President/ CEO\, Ampersand Art Supply. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Artist Angel Cabrales was selected by Mexic-Arte Museum to participate in the exhibition with his work Axihuical (El Paralelo)\, 2021\, Lasercut ceramic tile\, 37 3/4″ x 196 1/4″.
