SUMMARY:Arturo García Bustos: La Imagen del Mexico Postrevolucionario
DESCRIPTION:About\n\n\n\nBorn in 1926 in Mexico City\, Bustos quickly developed his artistic talents entering into Mexicos escuela nacional de Artes Plásticas ( National School of Fine Arts) at the age of 15\, and later forged his most significant pedagogical relationship with professors Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo at the Escuela de Pintura y Escultura de La Esmeralda ( Esmeralda School of Painting and Sculpture) in 1942. During his years with Kahlo\, he became known as one of the “Los Fridos\,” four young artists famous for their devotion to Kahlo. Bustos continued to be part of the 20th century Mexican avant-garde with his invovlement in the notable art collectives Artistas Jóvenes Revolucionarios ( Young Revolutionary Artists) and the Taller de la Gràfica Popular ( TGP People’s Graphic Workshop). The selected print works span the course of Bustos’ lifetime of artistic production and unveil carefully crafted social and political biographies\, histories\, and narrative that are truly the highlight of his oeuvre.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstallation Images

DESCRIPTION:About\n\n\n\nFractured Memories\, Assembled Trauma presents new works by Miguel Aragón. Originally from Ciudad Juárez\, Mexico\, Aragón is an MFA graduate student at The University of Texas at Austin specializing in traditional\, technological\, and experimental printmaking. His current series explores images chronicling the drug cartel-related deaths from Mexican newspaper clippings. Using a conceptual framework of reduction\, trauma\, and erasure\, Aragón parallels his artistic process with the experiences of those directly affected by the ongoing violence. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstallation Images
