SUMMARY:Mix 'n' Mash: Cosmologia
DESCRIPTION:About\n\n\n\nAmpersand Art Supply. Each limited-edition Mix n’ Mash artwork is uniquely crafted for the exhibition and all proceeds from the exhibit will support the Museum’s exhibition programming for children and adults. \n\n\n\nThe special theme for this year’s exhibition is Cosmología. Artists have been asked to use the term Cosmology (defined as the science of the origin and development of the universe) as an inspirational starting point. Artists are encouraged to explore this theme as it relates to physical cosmology (the laws of science as it relates to the universe’s origin) or mythological cosmology (a body of beliefs based on mythological and esoteric literature and traditions of creation myths and eschatology). Inspiration may be drawn from Popol Vuh (Mayan creation story) that is the foundation narrative of the K’iche’ lineages before the Spanish conquest of Guatemala; or\, the Aztec creation story of the legend of the five suns – the five births of the world and others. \n\n\n\nMix ‘n’ Mash Austin Lotería is also the Annual Membership party for Museum Members\, who receive free admission and unique benefits such as discounted prices for artworks and more. All proceeds support the Museum’s exhibitions department\, educational programming for children and adults\, and the upkeep and care of the permanent collection.
